This campaign focuses on the operational teams delivering change across Swindon’s housing service. From Repairs Teams completing around 1,000 jobs each week, to voids colleagues getting empty homes back into use faster through digital tracking and structured workflows, these roles have a direct impact on residents every day. Planned Maintenance Teams are driving long-term investment in homes, while compliance specialists ensure statutory safety across gas, electrical, fire, water, asbestos and lifts.     Your New Role


    As Specialist Compliance Officer – Mechanical & Electrical, you will support the delivery of statutory compliance across the housing and corporate portfolio, with a specialist focus on mechanical and electrical services.


    Reporting to the Service Manager or Service Lead, you will coordinate inspections, statutory servicing and remedial works, monitor contractor performance and ensure works are carried out safely, on time and to specification. You will maintain accurate compliance records, analyse performance data and escalate risks or non‑compliance as required.

    What You’ll Need to Succeed


    You will have experience supporting or delivering mechanical and electrical compliance within a local authority or social housing environment, with a good understanding of building services compliance requirements and health and safety.


    Experience working with contracts and monitoring contractor performance is essential. A relevant mechanical or electrical qualification is desirable, alongside a recognised health and safety qualification.

    What You’ll Need to Succeed


    You will bring significant experience as a building surveyor, ideally within a local authority or social housing environment. Strong knowledge of building construction, defect diagnosis and contract management is essential.


    A degree in Building Surveying (or related discipline) and professional membership (or eligibility) with organisations such as RICS or CIOB is desirable. You’ll bring sound judgement, strong communication skills and a confident, pragmatic approach to delivery.

    What You’ll Need to Succeed


    You will have experience leading service improvement within a housing, repairs or property related environment, with strong analytical and influencing skills. Experience using performance data to drive improvement and service change is essential.


    A degree level qualification or equivalent experience is desirable, along with evidence of ongoing professional development. A project or programme management qualification would be advantageous.
